How it all started
The Podcast
During 165 days of lockdown for his local area in 2021, Grant Swinbourne decided he needed another creative outlet as his ability to take photos was limited. He decided that creating a podcast where he interviews some of the best landscape photographers from Australia and around the world would help both pass the time and ignite his passion for photography once again. Landscape Photography World was born from this idea.
Little did he know how much that would change his life. Since starting the podcast a year ago, he’s been able to talk to some amazing people sharing incredible stories about their journeys into landscape photography.
The podcast is focused on understanding the motivations and passions of the photographers to better understand how they think and operate, in planning (or not), shoots, in the field and the processing of their images.
A year on and in thinking about how he can give back to the industry, Grant decided to celebrate the first year of the podcast by initiating the inaugural Landscape Photography World Awards!
The Awards
Landscape Photography World podcast has now been running for one year and to celebrate Grant decided to initiate the first LPW Photographer of the Year competition. The podcast currently sees over 3000 downloads per month and this audience has been growing steadily since its inception. Aside from continuing the growth in listeners, Grant would like to give something back to the fantastic community of landscape photographers and bring together some of the best images from across the world in what is hoped to be an annual competition.
There are 3 categories ( Landscape, Seascape & Cityscape), and 1 overall photographer of the year winner with 2 runners up. will run until the end of November with judging later in December with the winners announced in early in the new year.
Cash prizes will be on offer for all winners and a book and calendar will be produced and made available for sales at the end of the competition. All prize winners will receive a copy of the book as part of their prize.
